I am a visual journalist at The Virginian-Pilot, sharing stories and slices of life from the vibrant communities of coastal Virginia. I'm a proud North Carolina native and graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I studied photojournalism and Spanish.

I have a deep love for visual storytelling, and I'm excited by the expanding opportunities for engaging multimedia journalism. I'm always searching for interesting light, good conversation and a strong cup of coffee.

My work has received recognition from the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association, Virginia Press Association, North Carolina Press Association, Virginia News Photographers Association, and the Society for Features Journalism. "Facing Alzheimer's Decline," a video project I've worked on for several years, received first place for Online Video in the Virginia Press Association 2016 annual contest. In the Virginia News Photographers Association 2013 annual contest, my work placed first, second and third in the multimedia category.
